yESICA pOLO hERNANDEZ · Wildlife rEHABILITATOR

Yesica came to Miami at 5 years old from Colombia and had a love for animals since she was a little girl.

After graduating high school, she studied Criminal Justice at Miami Dade College and began volunteering at the Miami Dade Animal Services shelter. During her time as a volunteer, she realized her passion for animals and switched her degree program to a Biology Major. Since then, Yesica has graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences.

Yesica began volunteering at PHSS in 2021 and shortly after applied to the intern program to get hands-on experience with our wildlife rehabilitators. After successfully completing her internship, she continued volunteering at PHSS and recently joined the team as our newest Wildlife Rehabilitator. She hopes to sharpen her wildlife rehabilitation skills and grow with PHSS.
