Emily Miller - wildlife Rehabilitator
Emily is from Senoia, Georgia, and has always been passionate about making a difference for the natural world. She started her college education with a degree in Criminal Justice, but realized that career path would not be fulfilling in the ways that mattered. Graduating from Georgia State University in Atlanta with a degree in Biology and a minor in Criminal Justice, she sought out a future in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. With little to no hands-on experience in the field, she pursued a master’s degree somewhere tropical and near the ocean. Applying to programs, she discovered the Master’s of Professional Science program at the University of Miami. Shortly after moving to Miami, Pelican Harbor Seabird Station was accepting applications for the internship program, she applied, and received the opportunity to gain invaluable knowledge, pivotal to obtaining her dream job. She graduated from the University of Miami with a Master’s in Professional Science and a focus in Tropical Marine Ecosystems Management. After two years of extending her internship with Pelican Harbor, she was offered a full-time position that she eagerly accepted. Emily has a soft spot for the barn owls and baby Virginia opossums.
