Patient 47,000 arrives at pelican harbor

Pelican Harbor Seabird Station marked a milestone by admitting an orphaned Virginia opossum as its 47,000th patient. The young opossum was found alone in a backyard and brought in for urgent care, as it was too young to survive on its own. Staff began rehydration and nutritional support while emphasizing the delicate nature of wildlife rehabilitation. The facility stressed the importance of contacting professionals when finding orphaned or injured animals to ensure they receive proper treatment.
