Staff bio.png

From a young age, Sarah was enchanted by animals and nature. She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with an interdisciplinary degree in Fine Art and Gender Studies with an interest in art and non-profit work specifically in the environmental sector.

She enjoys communicating Pelican Harbor Seabird Station’s mission as a wildlife rehabilitation center to the Miami community and being the first response when an injured animal is found. Her favorite part of the job is helping educate the public on the importance of native species and fostering a love for the natural world. She believes it is essential for everyone to work together toward preserving and protecting our endemic ecosystems.

Sarah has also worked as PHSS’s Resident artist. She painted the Ambassador Animal mural showcasing beloved Orange Blossom the Virginia Opossum, Luna the Great Horned Owl, and Pepe the Pelican. Sarah draws great inspiration from the beauty of the earth in her painting practice which can be seen on her website soshart.com.
