BLUE BLOSSOM · Ambassador Virginia Opossum
Blue arrived at our hospital as part of an orphaned litter. While his siblings were healthy and will be released back into the wild, we quickly discovered that Blue was born without eyes—a rare condition that leaves him completely blind and unable to survive on his own.
Despite his disability, Blue has shown incredible resilience. With patient care and lots of love, he’s adapted beautifully to his surroundings—and he’s now ready to help us change the way people see opossums.
Blue is still growing, and is a curious and active little boy! His favorite foods are berries and fish, and his favorite activity is hiding in long hair and taking a nap.
Blue was named after Blue Blossom, the state flower of Texas. He is named in honor of the home state of our wildlife rehabilitator, Jacquelyn, who hails from Houston.
