6:30pm: Refreshments
7:00pm: Speaker, Q&A
Join us for a riveting conversation about the Native Plant Network, where speaker Daniela Champney will talk about this wonderful program, and how residents can participate. A quick look at the most endangered ecosystem in Miami-Dade County will show what’s going on with our natural areas and the important role residents can play. You will learn that planting native plants in your yard helps attract butterflies and birds and overall supports our local flora and fauna. We’ll also talk about how you can easily provide data for science by becoming a citizen scientist!
About the Speaker:
Daniela Champney
Program Manager
Native Plant Network
Daniela has been involved with the Fairchild Conservation team for the past eight years. She began as a volunteer in the nursery and over time started assuming more responsibilities of the Native Plant Network (formerly the Connect to Protect Network). This led to her covering the managerial aspects of NPN, including outreach and organization. She enjoys the mix of administration, gardening, education and interaction with the public. Daniela is an avid gardener who has been working with native plants in her own yard since arriving in Miami 15 years ago. She is also a board member of the Miami-Dade Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society.
