About the Speaker

Daniel John (D.J.) Mlodozeniec joined Tropical Audubon Society in March 2025 as Education Director. A native of Western New York, he brings extensive experience in environmental education, including nature camps, community science projects, after-school STEM programs, and educational experiences for youth and adults. He is especially passionate about bird-focused programming and leading “owl prowls.”

Prior to joining Tropical Audubon, Daniel served as Environmental Education Coordinator at Georgia’s Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, where he developed programs highlighting swamp ecology.

Daniel earned a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from the University at Buffalo, where he was first introduced to the Everglades. Inspired by South Florida’s unique ecosystems, he now works to connect people of all ages with nature and believes that fostering curiosity and appreciation for the natural world can inspire lifelong conservation stewardship.

In his free time, Daniel enjoys camping, canoeing, fishing, wildlife photography, and outdoor adventure.
