5th annual Pelican Run 5k
On the morning of May 2nd, Haulover Park came alive with the sound of running shoes, cheering crowds, and the unmistakable sight of three brown pelicans taking to the sky. This was our best Pelican Run yet!
400 Runners, One Cause - this year's Pelican Run 5K drew 400 participants - our highest attendance ever. There is something truly moving about seeing so many people show up at 7:00 on a Saturday morning, lace up their shoes, and run for wildlife. Every step on that course is a vote for a better future for the animals we share this city with, and this year more people than ever cast that vote.
Before the first runners crossed the start line, we had a special moment to share. Three brown pelicans, all successfully rehabilitated at our facility, were released back into the wild right there at Haulover Park. Watching them glide over the water and disappear into the Miami sky was the perfect reminder of why we do this work - and why mornings like this matter.
