On September 20th, Pelican Harbor proudly participated in the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) with our Little River Cleanup. Nearly 50 volunteers joined us on land and in kayaks directly across from our future home, paddling through the river and collect debris.

The Little River is one of the four original rivers that flow into Biscayne Bay, making it a vital waterway whose health directly impacts the Bay’s wellbeing. Starting the morning with a rainbow arched over our new hospital right across from the cleanup area felt like a perfect symbol of hope for the future.

Thanks to the hard work of our volunteers, we removed over 380 pounds of trash from the river. We are grateful to volunteercleanup.org for leading this important annual initiative and to everyone who gave their time and energy.

A big thank you to Flora of Miami, Little River Stewardship Project, Archaeological and Historical Conservancy, Inc., and St. Thomas University for joining us with their staff to educate, share their knowledge, and inspire our community. We’re also grateful to Commissioner Eileen Higgins for stopping by and showing support.
