Kate Comer is Assistant Professor of English at Portland State University, where she teaches composition and rhetoric. Her research interests include community-based writing and activism, particularly related to environmental issues. Her current research focuses on orca advocacy in the Pacific Northwest.
An avid animal lover, Kate began volunteering at PHSS in 2014 and has since spent as much time there as possible. That experience inspired her to begin volunteering with Audubon Society of Portland after she relocated to Oregon in 2017, but she remains committed to PHSS and the South Florida ecology.
